Searching for Black Holes
This program documents the efforts of an international team of astronomers to link together six radio telescopes in Europe and America, basically creating a telescope half the size of the earth, in an attempt to look deep into the heart of one of these extraordinary galaxies. John Conway, of the California Institute of Technology, leads the experiment under the guidance of Caltech's Tony Readhead, maintaining constant contact with colleagues Richard Porcas in Germany and Tiziana Venturi in Italy, as they tackle numerous weather and equipment problems.
